Our Story: How Cultivate Began
My friend Bethany and I were on our way home from one of hundreds of events we’d played together over the years (Bethany is Cultivate’s exquisite violin player and road manager). We loved what we were doing but we both longed for something deeper and more thoughtful than what we could pull off in a constantly changing variety of environments. So we thought, What if we could take our favorite elements from all the live events we’ve done and pull them together into a single, seamless gathering? Yes, we were dreaming, and, no, Cultivates are never seamless. But that day a seed was planted and several months later, on August 15, 2014 at Rolling Hills Community Church in Franklin, TN, Cultivate was born.
Since then we’ve gathered with thousands of women of all ages from every corner of the country, and we’ve done this with some of our closest friends—meet our team below. While each event is unique, Cultivate’s signature marks remain consistent: Accessible teaching that’s rooted in God’s Word, acoustic worship led by Haley Fry (piano, acoustic guitar and violin), rich times of individual and communal prayer, and a focus on mission and justice. (I’m passionate about the work I get to do with Justice & Mercy International, and love sharing about it with you.) We also laugh quite a bit as we relish community and the joy of togetherness.
I hope you’ll come experience a Cultivate with us. Not because we’ve got it all together, but because of the One we gather around, Jesus Christ.
