Nehemiah and Jungle Pastors

Special Guests: Beth Moore, Lisa Harper, and other people we all love.

On Feb 1st, my 3rd bible study releases,Nehemiah: A Heart That Can Break. On Feb 3rd, I leave for the Amazon jungles of Brazil for the 2nd Annual Jungle Pastor’s Conference that several dear friends and family launched last year with Ray of Hope. Without being overly dramatic I feel attached to Joshua’s words to the Israelites before they were to cross the Jordan, “Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do amazing things among you.” This is a sacred time as I look back over a year of studying and writing about Nehemiah, with two trips to the Amazon thrown in. It is not lost on me that 3 days after this study releases I will have the privilege of meeting up with 65 modern-day Nehemiahs, 40 of them pastors and 25 of them pastor’s wives. We will gather together for the 2nd time in jungle history to study, worship, fellowship, catch piranha and eat a lot of tapioca. (I am personally packing Kind Bars this year.)

Last year with Pastor Jucimar. He traveled 17 days by boat to get to the conference

I can’t describe in a blog post the impact that last year’s conference had on me, though I am contemplating writing a book about my adventures. More on that when I recover from the pounding I took from Nehemiah (half-grin). In the meantime, it would mean so much to me if you think to cover our time in prayer. Essentially my dad will be doing the lion’s share of the teaching, while I and a few others will be teaching the wives – okay, in reality they will be teaching us by their very presence, it’s just how it works over there. Many of these Brazilians will leave several days ahead of time because it will take them that long by boat to get to where we’ll be. On my side of the equator I just don’t know this level of zeal for God, His Word and His people. Like I said, they will be teaching me.

My dad’s the one in the middle. Jungle pastors on either side

On another note, please, please join us for tomorrow’s (Feb 1st) free webcast that begins at 11 AM (CST). I hear Beth Moore, Lisa Harper and a couple other surprise guests will be dropping by to say hello. I can’t wait to share with you in person what this book has meant to me, and the word is we’ll be doing a little cooking on the “show” as well. Rumor has it that Lisa Harper will be showing up with onion goggles. What more needs to be said.

Kelly, I will definitely pray for you, your family, and all that will be attending the pastors conference! Having done mission work in a Brazilian Indian tribe, I know what it's like to travel long distances to minister! And, I also know what it's like to be so warmly received by Brazilians. I have a heart for that country, as well. And yes, those who dedicate years or even decades of their lives to minister in such remote places…wow! God has used them and their ministries to inspire me, convict me, and challenge me too. I'll be on the webcast tomorrow, as I hope to lead a Nehemiah women's Life Group this spring. 🙂

Kelly, our little Home Bible Study has done all of your Studies and we cannot wait to do Nehemiah. So many of these Young Women are New Christians and you have such a way of reaching them, and teaching them. We will pray for your trip to the Amazon, that God will touch the Women you are teaching, that you will receive what they have to say, and above all that God will be Glorified. Thank you for listening to God in all that you do.

    Dear Kelly,

I already pre-purchased the study weeks ago. I have been greatly anticipating my journey with Nehemiah. It's one of my most faved books of the Bible! It holds such a wealth of treasure to be gleaned and gotten! I can hardly wait to travel his pages again!! I cannot wait to see what more God revealed to you to show to us. My appetite has been whetted… I long to taste and see that it is good!!! The only thing better that would ice the cake or add gravy to my potatoes would be to get to also travel the Brazilian jungle! I'd be jealous…. but God's got my on my own ordained, prepared and planned out trip. Evidently, He's not scheduled a trip to sludge those jungles just yet. Maybe a future trip? Who knows, but God?! 🙂 I've grabbed my shovel though, I'm anxious for the dig in Scripture and ready to build some crumbled-down ancient walls…… May God greatly bless your travels!

Praying for you and all involved and will continue daily!!!! I loved the webcast and can't wait to get my hands on the study!!! I just finished reading Ezra and Nehemiah to get my feet wet a little and I know God is going to do a lifechanging work in everyone around me before I have finished this!!!!

Unfortunately, "work" interfered with me being able to watch the webcast this morning (work interferes with so many things, don't you think?) so I was wondering if there might be some place we can watch a "replay"? Any chance of this? My women's Bible study group has done several of your studies and we love you Kelly! Thanks for all you have done to get us thinking, discussing and praying about! God's blessings to you as you travel to the jungle!

Can't wait to do Nehemiah! I will be praying for you as you travel, teach and learn in the Amazon. It was so good to see you and hear you at the Women's Leadership Forum in November. Thought I caught a glimpse of you on the James video today- in the audience. May God bless you and continue to use you.

    Kelly,

So excited about the Nehemiah study!! I loved the other two studies!

I, along with my fellow Nogs, plan to do your new study this simmer.

We are all “empty nesters” but we still “look really hip and young”. 🙂

Anyway, be praying for u while ur in Brazil!! Tricia

Kelly, I can't wait for the Nehemiah study to be available. I enjoyed the study on Ruth last year and just recently completed No Other Gods. I have to say it was life-changing. Thanks for sharing your gift for uncovering gems in the Word of God that teach and inspire us. As a women's Bible teacher in my home church, I really need and enjoy being taught myself. I'll be praying for your ministry in Brazil.

Hi Kelly: After several years of wanting to tell you how life changing your Bible studies have been for me, I'm finally popping on to thank you – and you just happen to be off in Brazil. I will consider it no coincidence and am already praying for you. — Even so, thank you for using the gifts God has given you to change lives, my own included. I cried my way through NOGs and Ruth in the best of ways (the cry that comes when the Father's fingers are working deep in your heart) and hardly a day goes by that I don't think about the lessons God taught me through them. Truthfully, I'm a bit afraid to begin Nehemiah, though I have it in my home; I have a feeling it will rock my world. But then again, when God does the rocking it's always for a glorious reason, even if painful in the process.

May the hand of the Lord, Creator of the ends of the earth, be upon you now, whereever you are and whatever you are doing. Go in the grace and protection and strength of God.

It's 1:06 am on February 12, 2012, and I got my Nehemiah study materials in the mail two days ago, but all I can think about are the awesome servants you're serving with right now. I know Jesus must be so proud of all of you and the work you all are doing. You're living my dream right now and I pray God's blessings on all of you as you seek Him by serving His people. May your cups overflow…………..a great cloud of witnesses are so proud right now…….and so is one of your MANY sisters in Christ….xoxoxoxo

Aaaaaaaaaaaaah! That is me…crying and screaming for JOY and to be BRAVE after being at Falls Creek this weekend! WOW! Thanks so much. I"ve lived in Bolivia and Guatemala as a missionary….came back to the states, got married and got WAY …….WAY too comfortable! Stopped at Lifeway on way home from Falls Creek and bought the DVD and member books to start Nehemiah THIS SUNDAY! I don't think I'll get through session one without crying. A LOT. Hoping a few friends will join me on the journey. I'd better warn my husband……Guatemala may be calling! 🙂

AND….where can I find that song that is on the DVD….something about The Heart of Jesus? Girl….tell me there is a download of that…SOMEWHERE! 🙂

    Grace and Peace, Shannan Cloud

This is a comment to the webmaster. I came to your “Nehemiah and Jungle Pastors | Kelly Minter” page via Google but it was hard to find as you were not on the front page of search results. I see you could have more visitors because there are not many comments on your site yet. I have found a website which offers to dramatically increase your rankings and traffic to your site: http://www.linklegends.com/web-traffic. I managed to get close to 1000 visitors/day using their services, you could also get lot more targeted traffic than you have now. I used their services and got significantly more visitors to my site. Hope this helps 🙂 Take care.
